As most of you know, Patrick and Lauren often describe themselves as "foodies."  When they aren't trying out a new restaurant, Lauren is in the kitchen mastering a new recipe.

So, when Patrick told Lauren he made reservations at "Daniel" in NYC, Lauren didn't really think twice about it.  They had been meaning to try it out for some time now.  Even after people at work told Lauren that Patrick would probably propose, she still didn't believe it. 

It wasn't until they arrived at the restaurant when Lauren said to Patrick "I can't believe you AREN'T proposing to me here..."

The maitre d' took them to a private corner room with a small table where they proceeded to have one of the best meals of their lives.

After the cheese course, the waiter asked if we'd like dessert at that time or a little later.  Lauren suggested a little later so they could enjoy this beautiful room.  When the waiter closed the curtains to the room, Lauren exclaimed "Wow, how romantic is this?"  When she turned toward Patrick, she noticed him staring intently at her and she knew.

Don't ask either of them what was said.  All Lauren remembers is "I love you more than anything in this world...." and she was saying "YES YES YES" before he could even sputter out the words "Will you marry me?"

As if on cue, the waiter walked back in with 2 glasses of champagne and fabulous dessert.

Unfortunately, all Lauren wanted to do at this point was call her parents, so the maitre d' brought her the house phone, as she couldn't receive service with her cell phone.  As she was busy calling her parents and describing the story, Patrick realized it was up to him to finish the wine and food, since Lauren was obviously in shock.

After dinner, they went to Bruno Jamais for more champagne and dancing.  However, Lauren was still trying to call people, so Patrick again took it upon himself to take care of the champagne.

Needless to say, when Lauren started calling people at 7am the next morning, Patrick felt like his head was caving in.

It wasn't until dinner the following night, when Patrick's family, Lauren's parents, and Ray went to dinner to celebrate the engagement, that Patrick was finally able to feel human again!
